Tax plumbers grip

During the previous weeks reported on the budget for 2011. This is because it is a crucial piece of information covering all the people in the United Kingdom. After the initial fall out we are now picking up areas where the Government will try and raise tax revenues.

It became clear that they are looking to tighten regulation on those that self declare your tax. Main trades merchant, initially looking is people like plumbers, gas installers and engineers. These people typically work for themselves and work out its own taxes through self-assessment.

Now, many of us will have heard the term ' making a foreigner ' which essentially is cash on hand no declared income. This is the kind of work that the Government is trying to fight, they want every penny to be declared and the tax due to be paid.

The recipe gave traders until 31st of May to declare any liability caused by incorrectly unclaimed prizes. There is a penalty to pay any amounts set aside, but to encourage people to do it that created a low 10-20%. Afterst 31 May the HMRC have warned that they will begin to complete in depth investigations to discover undeclared values.

The initial period was given as the HMRC understand what amounts can be lost, to make a self-assessment. Not all trades people are hot on the numbers and fill out forms can be quite difficult. However as with any tax situation is a consequence of serious non-disclosure. If it was found that the quantities are not being declared the investigation could lead to prosecution.

The Government has been quite critical in the complicated tax system that they were they have already taken initial steps to remove layers of regulation that is contradictory or confused. Hopefully the HMRC will use this period of financial difficulty to further simplify the tax system.

We are sure that make the system easier and fairer will encourage many people to pay the full amount and correct year on year. This will help the trades and will generate more revenue to the Treasury.

So if you are in this category and I think you do not pay enough, or you may have missed declaring some income by accident please contact HMRC. You can find all details of contacts in the main HMRC site, and some Councils do it fast.
